ABOUT
Andrea Bou Othmane is an Italian-Tunisian choreographer and movement artist, born in Monza, Italy. Self-taught, he began dancing in 2009 through Electro Dance, a practice that grew naturally from his social environment. He quickly developed his skills and became the Italian 1vs1 champion in the discipline. Rooted in improvisation and physical research, his work is characterised by complex body compositions, a precise use of the arms, and shifts in rhythm and speed. Over the years, his work has developed across different artistic contexts, from dance and theatre to opera, music and visual culture.
Since 2022, Andrea has collaborated with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Eastman, performing in Antidote, Starmania, directed by Thomas Jolly, and Sutra, where he took on the lead role originally created by Cherkaoui alongside the Shaolin monks. In 2023, he performed in Hanjo at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and presented a solo at the Ultimas ceremony celebrating Cherkaoui’s career. During the same period, he appeared in THE LOUBI SHOW IV by Christian Louboutin during Paris Fashion Week and collaborated with fashion designers Jan-Jan Van Essche and Yuima Nakazato. In 2024, Andrea was invited to the Grand Théâtre de Genève for Idomeneo, followed later that year by his participation as a guest dancer with the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève in Ihsane, a creation bringing together dancers from the Ballet and Eastman. His work as a performer also extends to music and visual culture, including co-starring alongside Jorja Smith in the music video for Try Me and appearing in a Dom Pérignon campaign featuring Lady Gaga, directed by Woodkid.
As a choreographer, Andrea co-created KEBIR with Nassim Baddag, featuring the live voice of Mohammed El Arabi-Serghini. Through the encounter between the singer’s voice and the dancers’ bodies, the work explores the relationship between generations, bringing together movement, sound and cultural memory. His choreographic work also extends into the music and fashion industries, including choreography for GREEICY’s Candela Tour and the Roland-Garros x Perrier collaboration in Paris.
Alongside his artistic work, Andrea shares his practice internationally through workshops, intensives and training programmes. One of his key collaborations is with choreographer and movement artist Justin de Jager through ARMS, an intensive co-created by the two artists, focusing on their respective techniques and physical approaches. He is also a collaborator in Threading Theatre, an artistic project founded by Justin de Jager, exploring the intersections of movement, performance and physical research. Andrea regularly leads intensive programmes at the Pietragalla-Derouault training centre, founded by former Paris Opera Étoile Marie-Claude Pietragalla.
